Patrick Sweeney, Principal
As the Founder of Syn Tawa Energy, Mr. Sweeney will serve as the Chairman of the Board and CEO. Primary functions will include providing Executive direction, and providing oversight on all areas of operations and Business affairs of the company to ensure conformity to the vision of the future Board of Directors.
Over the past 30 years, Mr. Sweeney has held high impact positions in sales, marketing, finance, business development and operations for leading technology and finance companies ranging from IBM Credit Corporation, the Meridian Group, StorageTek Global Services, Xerox Global Services and most recently Vice President of Research and Technology for a non-profit national trade association.
As President and CEO of Transcomp Systems, Mr. Sweeney built a software and services organization that grew from a startup to become one of the top solution providers in the Waste and Recycling Industry in a period of five years. He successfully architected an equity funding partnership with industry leader Primedia’s (NYSE: PRM), InterTec Publishing and About.com/Industryclick.
Mr. Sweeney holds a Bachelors of Science and Commerce degree in Marketing from Santa Clara University. After graduation, he served our country as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
David P. Smoot, Syn Tawa Director of Projects and Development
Mr. Smoot will serve is a Principal of Syn Tawa Energy, LLC and will serve in the Capacity of Director of Projects and Development. Primary functions will include oversight on all project related business operations.
Mr. Smoot has an extensive business background and has been the founder of several companies. In 2003, he started Natawa, a company focused on providing infrastructure (water, sewage, and fiber-optic cable) for large real estate development projects. Recognizing the opportunity to apply new technology to these projects, in 2005 he founded AITI, to develop renewable energy solutions. Prior to those efforts, he founded two other companies and was president of Meridian Leasing, a company that purchased Mr. Smoot’s earlier start-up, Software Funding International, Inc.
Mr. Smoot was twice named a regional finalist to Ernst & Young’s and Inc. magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year award. He served on the boards of five well-known charities and is still active in two.
Mr. Smoot was educated at Cumberland College, Glassboro State College and the University of Cincinnati. He was attempting to make a career as a professional basketball player but was drafted by Uncle Sam during the Viet Nam War, and spent six years serving in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Smoot is a member of the Muscogee Creek Tribe of Oklahoma. He was raised in an orphanage, a life-altering experience that would later be a strong motivating factor in his determination to be a positive influence in the lives of many people.
Jack Gilmore, Director of Project Development
As the Project Development Director, Mr. Gilmore will represent Syn Tawa Energy with site selection analyses and coordinate with local agencies, municipalities, and consultants to provide the required infrastructure improvements for selected project sites. Jack brings to the team more than 25 years of industrial park master planning, including infrastructure and entitlement support, and field coordination. Beginning with the initial site feasibility research, all aspects of the site’s existing condition must be determined to establish reasonable solutions for; access, utilities, appropriate surrounding land uses, site drainage, site security, rezoning and platting requirements, cost estimates and project scheduling. Once there is a commitment to proceed, Jack will be responsible for selecting the design team and the EPC, coordinating work tasks, and establishing the necessary entitlements to construct the Bio-Mass project.
The majority of Mr. Gilmore’s professional experience has dealt with developer-oriented land planning and landscape architectural design services. Projects range from large master planned communities and golf courses to mixed use commercial, office, and industrial parks. As a registered Landscape Architect he has dealt with the design and preparation of construction documents for projects ranging from desert restoration to large campus landscapes and community parks.
Mr. Gilmore holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University.
